With a heritage dating back to 1864, First Eagle Investment Management (“FEIM”) is an investment management company based in New York. Over its long history, the firm has developed its activities and central investment tenets that have built its worldwide brand franchise. FEIM has a global mandate both in terms of geographies and types of securities (i.e. equity, fixed income, commodities…). Overall, the firm pursues almost a dozen of different strategies, two of them representing about 85% of total assets under management. These focus on absolute returns and aim to avoid permanent impairment of capital and invest across different asset classes, regions, industries and market capitalization ranges. Through its varied product range (mutual funds, separately managed accounts and private funds) and distribution channels, FEIM has been able to serve both institutional accounts and high-net-worth individuals.

In August 2016, Sofina initially took an indirect stake in FEIM through GoldIron (a vehicle designed to consolidate the interests with founding family shareholders) in a secondary transaction alongside the financial sponsors (Blackstone & Corsair) and the founding family shareholders. In June 2017 and June 2018, Sofina successively acquired additional stakes from employees and certain family shareholders through GoldIron. As of 31 December 2019, Sofina indirectly owned 4.7% of FEIM.
