Sofina entered Byju’s capital in 2016. Investors include Prosus, Peak XV Partners, General Atlantic, Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, Lightspeed Venture Partners, IFC, Tencent, Tiger Global, Silver Lake Partners and T-Rowe Price.

Founded in 2008, Byju’s is an education technology company, headquartered in India and active globally. The company first developed engaging learning programs entitled “Byju’s Learning App”, focused on K-12 and on test preparation for students in India. Since 2019, the company has also expanded to the US and into various other segments (such as online coding classes and online books), both organically and via M&A. Byju’s subsidiary Aakash Educational Services offers offline test preparation classes at over 200 centres in India, and its subsidiary Great Learning offers online degree programs in partnership with leading universities.
