In August 2016, Sofina initially took an indirect stake in FEI through GoldIron (a vehicle designed to consolidate the interests with founding family shareholders) in a secondary transaction alongside the financial sponsors (Blackstone & Corsair) and the founding family shareholders. In 2017 and 2018, GoldIron, funded with additional investment from Sofina, successively acquired additional FEI shares from employees and certain family shareholders.
